Denise Marquette

Denise Marquette joined the Comox Valley musical family in 2011 after retiring from a very successful teaching career in Vancouver. During her 38 years of teaching, she taught all levels of Concert band and Concert choir, as well as Jazz band, Chamber choir and Vocal Jazz. She is currently a music TOC for the Courtenay School District, co-conducts Cantiamo chamber ensemble, was associate director for Celebration Singers adult choir and as of fall 2015 has taken the helm of the Comox Valley Concert Band. Denise is also getting involved in the valley musical theatre scene. Experience with high school musicals (including Annie, Wizard of Oz and Little Shop of Horrors) as a choral coach gave her a taste for theatre. Her first opportunity to oversee all aspects of the music in a musical was the 2014 Rainbow Youth Theatre production of “Gypsy”. Next up she was musical director for the very successful run of Rainbow Youth Theatre’s fall 2015 production of “Beauty and the Beast” and followed up with CLT’s very popular 2015 Christmas  production of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Her most recent project was the fall 2016 production of the Cole Porter musical, “Anything Goes”, which received rave reviews, again for Rainbow Youth Theatre. She will continue her involvement in musical theatre in 2017 and into the foreseeable future.
